||J.A. (Jay) McEntire IV
Managing Partner, M2Capital Partners LLC
Jay McEntire combines a successful track record of senior leadership in entrepreneurial companies with hands-on, practical investment banking experience. Having served as a CEO, a board member of a public company and in other senior executive positions in small to mid cap growth companies, Jay has unique insight into how management teams can successfully set and implement strategic priorities. Additionally, as an investment banker, Jay has advised companies on mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, management buyouts, public offerings and private placements totaling over $2 billion in transactions.
Jay recently served as Chief Executive Officer of ProTrader Group, an electronic brokerage and trading software development company. He was recruited to restructure and reposition the company for a potential exit strategy, which was achieved in October 2001 with its sale to Instinet Corporation for a transaction value of $150 million. To achieve the turnaround, Jay completed a corporate reorganization, hired a new team of senior managers, refocused and upgraded the firms technology development capabilities, rebranded the company and initiated a substantial marketing campaign. After the acquisition, Jay joined Instinet as Senior Vice President serving as Managing Director of Instinet Clearing Services. During his tenure Jay developed a new client offering to provide a complete trading and settlement solution by bundling front-end trading technology, network infrastructure hosting and electronic order execution routing with clearing and settlement.
Jay gained additional senior management experience as an executive with Parker & Parsley Petroleum Company from 1994 to 1997. As Vice President of Strategic Planning, Jay served on the executive committee and was responsible for strategic planning, business development, investor relations and information technology. Jays relationship with Parker & Parsley began in 1989 when, as an investment banker to the company, he developed a creative structure that led to a $55 million management buyout from its parent, Southmark Corporation. Over the next five years, Jay served as an advisor to the company in its successful acquisition of over $1 billion in energy assets. Parker & Parsley became a NYSE listed company and grew to become one of the ten largest independent energy companies in the country.
From 1996 to 2000, Jay served as a board member of Prime Medical Services, Inc. Jays association with the firm began in 1994 with an investment banking assignment to raise $10 million in senior debt financing. As a public company, Prime Medical had a market capitalization of approximately $30 million in 1994. Over the next three years, Jay advised the company on over $100 million in debt financings as well as the $70 million acquisition of its largest competitor.
From 1987 to 1994 and from 1997 to 1999, Jay held positions as an investment banker with Stephens Inc., McEntire Capital Associates, Inc. and M2 Capital Partners, LLC. As an investment banker, Jay focused on the energy, financial services and healthcare sectors. He advised on corporate finance issues ranging from friendly to hostile takeovers, growth financing, public offerings and private placements. Clients during this period included Arkla, Inc., Union Planters Bank Corp., Anheuser Busch Corp., Parker & Parsley Petroleum Company, The Foothill Group, Inc. and Prime Medical Services, Inc. Jay began his career as a credit analyst in 1984 and subsequently became regional banking officer at Worthen Banking Corporation.
Jay has a B.S. and B. A. in Finance from University of Arkansas, and graduated from Harvard Business Schools Advanced Management Program in 1994. He holds the Series 24 Securities Principal and Series 7 General Securities Representative licenses.
